The colorful and atmospheric landscape near my home inspired the imagination of this painting. Working in encaustic, a medium comprised of pigmented molten wax, is sometimes a lengthy endeavor in adding and fusing the wax surface multiple times. In this way, translucency and depth become apparent in the lustrous completed surface expressive of natural subjects.
