River Dawn - Encaustic (Beeswax, resin, pigment) Silver and Gold Leaf, oil - Original In this series of work I first drew on a prepared wood panel with oil sticks to begin spatial and color ideas as well as subject. The addition of encaustic medium to the dried surface of the oil paint created a lustrous surface from which to develop the color using cold wax that is water-soluble and has a fluid way much like watercolor. Fusing this and additionally adding metal leaf, abalone shell and finally redrawing the subject while leaving a sense of atmospheric abstraction subsequently used molten wax to complete the painting.
